LENNY GIACHELLO

Lenny is originally from Hartford, Connecticut. When he was five he saw Elvis on TV and knew from that moment music and performance was for him. He studied at the Hartford Conservatory before studying privately with Elvin Jones and Richie Goldberg in Frank Impelito’s Pro Drum Shop in New York. He then spent 2 years studying with Sony Igoe and then an amazing year with jazz great and educator Ed Soph of North Texas University. When he moved to California he studied with Tower of Power’s amazing, David Garibaldi and jazz great, Roy Burns and President of Aquarian Drum Heads for the past 12 years and presently he continues to study from L.A.’s studio’s finest and jazz great, Joe Porcaro, and co-founder of The Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA). Lenny played full time with various local bands until late the 70’s when he joined the Sammy Brown Band. The band moved to L.A. in 1980 and since then Lenny has been leader of many bands along with starting a teaching practice in 1983. He leads two bands today, The Lock Brothers with Little Sister, a Classic Rock/ Blues Band; Lenny Gee Trio, playing jazz standards.  He found his nitch in teaching by transferring his love of drums and drumming to his students. He has been teaching drum lessons privately and has been the most sought after drum teacher in the South Bay area including Torrance, Palos Verdes, Redondo, Manhattan Beach, Carson, Long Beach and the surrounding areas for 30 + years at his studios in Torrance and Long Beach. He also has been teaching beginning drum classes (Drums for Fun) for 20 years and continues to do so for the cities of Lakewood, Cerritos and Torrance. He can also be found teaching at El Camino College through their Community Education Classes. He presently teaches privately at two locations. He lives in Long Beach with his wife Sue of 33 years and is father to Paiste Artists; Cale and Jody Giachello and daughter, Chelsea Giachello.
